After a long hiatus, I’m back to blogging. Dealing with COVID and some personal health issues gave me a double whammy and I never got back to blogging. I’m now picking up the keyboard and plan on blogging about a variety of legal issues that I find interesting. I hope you find the posts interesting.
I’ll be honest—when I stopped writing, I didn’t think it would turn into a multi-year silence. Like many, the pandemic threw me off course. The combination of navigating the health rollercoaster, juggling client needs, and keeping the practice moving forward left little time or energy for reflection—let alone blogging.
But over the last few months, I’ve been feeling the pull again. Not just to write, but to reconnect. The legal landscape hasn’t stood still. Technology continues to evolve at breakneck speed, reshaping how we think about privacy, contracts, intellectual property, AI liability, and everything in between. Courts are grappling with new questions. Legislatures are throwing curveballs. And clients—many of them small businesses or startups—are left trying to make sense of it all.
That’s the space I hope to write into. These posts won’t be academic treatises. I’m aiming for something a bit more conversational—sometimes practical, sometimes provocative. I’ll dive into emerging legal issues, offer thoughts on recent cases or legislation, and occasionally share insights from the trenches of day-to-day legal practice. Expect posts on topics like:
• Why legal boilerplate still matters (and what happens when you ignore it)
• What courts are saying about AI-generated content and copyright
• Tips for startups negotiating with Goliath-sized counterparties
• The evolving role of lawyers in a world increasingly run by algorithms
Some posts may be long, others short. Some will speak directly to lawyers; others to business owners, technologists, or the legally curious. What they’ll all have in common is this: a belief that law doesn’t have to be dry, and that clarity is a form of service.
So, here we go again. If you’ve followed my blog before—thank you for sticking around. And if you’re new, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
Let’s see where this goes.
